location:
Eden Prairie, Minnesota
project characteristics:
Our clients had undertaken a major remodeling of the back half
of their home. In our landscape design phase, we incorporated their architect‘s design for a new porch and deck setting into
our site layouts. Our landscape plan and
hardscape plan address the owners'
program goals with new terrace walls of 'Roman Pisa' stone,
weaving around
the porch and deck footings, and
then stepping down with the grade, to a
new lower-level entertaining patio.
A raised planter design adds privacy
on an otherwise exposed end of the patio. We designed a backdrop new plantings in
this planter also. For the patio, we chose a radial-pattern cobble paver, which adds high-impact visual interest and a warm,
inviting feeling.
A meandering flight of stairs at the porch and deck side of the patio, leads to the owner’s upper level gardens and
garden
walk. We chose the same 'Roman Pisa' stone and cobble pavers for the stairs and softly curving garden walkway.
The whole setting invites exoploration and relaxation in their colorful new landscape.
